The Need for a Maintenance Day!

Dear North East boxers;

Recently I had the pleasure of catching up with a letterboxing friend, Leader of the Pack, Carolyn Stearns. She has been struggling with a number of foot ailments that are very painful when walking. L of P has boundless energy so you can imagine that she can not sit down.

L of P mentioned that she does not want to retire from boxing but simply can not get out to check over the 100 boxes that she has in the area. I offered to adopt some boxes but thankfully she said that she plans to get back to boxing (a possible operation for October could relieve some of the pain.)

Leader of the Pack would like to invite people to a Mansfield Maintenance Day on either Nov 5 or 6. Her thoughts would be to recarve broken stamps or missing stamps, replace journals, remove boxes from the list, re-bag boxes and chat with some OLD FRIENDS. This date is not "carved in stone" as she has other commitments to tend to that could interfere. Keep your eyes tuned to this webpage for further developments.

If the Mansfield Maintenance day does not come together on one of those days. I am willingly to check on some boxes on November 8, which is a Tuesday and would love to have any company.

Carol has over 100 boxes in Mansfield, some drive bys and some 1 to 3 mile hikes. Please email the LBNE list, myself or Mark Pepe with any boxes that you have done that belong to Leader of the Pack and their condition. Please PICK UP any boxes that need stamps recarvedor boxes that are damaged and I will contact you about getting the box.

Because of Carol's efforts many of us starting boxing and she is partially responsible for CT being the letterboxing mecca that this state has come to enjoy. I would like to continue to keep Mansfield as the heart of letterboxing in the Northeast.

Respectfully submitted
